Ron Gural is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, where he received his MFA degree in Acting and Directing. His undergraduate degree is a BFA from the University of Houston. Ron was a founding member of Milwaukee’s Theatre X and the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane and has been a company member since the Festival’s initial season.
As a director, Ron has directed over 50 productions. Some of his favorite titles were Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Marat/Sade, What The Butler Saw, Loot, The Three Sisters, As You Like It, The Country Wife, Hallowed Ground, and most recently My Uncle Sam, co-directed with Jim Fitzmorris. 15 Minutes at Midway, an original script he also co-directed with Jim Fitzmorris is a particular recent favorite.
As a professional actor, Ron is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, and the Screen Actors Guild. He has appeared onstage at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Theatre X, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Long Beach Repretory, Tulane Center Stage, and the Portland Stage Company among others. Shakespeare credits include Richard III, Richard II, King Lear, The Winters’ Tale, Macbeth, The Comedy of Errors, Love’s Labors Lost, Measure For Measure, Henry VIII, Hamlet, The Tempest, Henry V, Cymbeline, Othello, Twelfth Night, All’s Well That Ends Well, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Film and television credits include Tightrope with Clint Eastwood, Storyville with James Spader, Freedom Road with Kris Kristoferrson, and the tv series Orleans,The Big Easy, and The Mississippi.
In New Orleans, Ron has worked at the Contemporary Arts Center, Southern Repertory Theatre, and True Brew, as well as at Tulane.
